It all started in 2001, when Sherri Rempel started having vision problems. After an MRI, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. At the time, she was living in Winnipeg and going to university.

"I felt so alone with my family back in Winkler." With no family history of the disease, Rempel didn't really know what to expect. At first the symptoms weren't that bad. Her vision always cleared up on its own. Then fatigue set in. About a year later she had double vision and her hand and arm were numb. Rempel was put on corticosteroids to alleviate the symptoms. They helped, but made her feel sick all the time.
