"I felt so alone with my family back in Winkler." With no family history of the disease, Rempel didn't really know what to expect. At first the symptoms weren't that bad. Her vision always cleared up on its own. Then fatigue set in. About a year later she had double vision and her hand and arm were numb. Rempel was put on corticosteroids to alleviate the symptoms. They helped, but made her feel sick all the time.
