Jack Burks MD, an neurologist and the Chief Medical Officer of the National MS Society acknowledged that the divide was essentially a "turf war" between neurologists and endovascular interventionalists. He accused interventionalists for being "cowboys" who "overstate the positive value" of vascular treatments in an effort to extract money from desperate patients.

I sent this response to Mr. Caulfield a lawyer who want MS patients to continue to endure the pain, endure the suffering, and to continue to perish while he and his colleagues are satisfied with with the scientific evidence. Of course he does not put it that way. Below are my published comments:

As many of you know my wife Ruth was Dr. Simka's 17th patient on Dec 29, 2009. His kindness to receive and treat Ruth on short notice was greatly appreciated.

This is a letter from Dr. Simka to a liberated MSer (not Ruth) that we should all read and consider.

Dr. Simka writes:

I will give you some details on our current policy, and also on our findings coming from gathered data. perhaps, you can post these information.

The Cedar Hill Recreation Center was filled with MS patients and their caregivers with an overflow crowd of about 250 present. They came to learn about CCSVI and to listen to the testimonies of five MS patients who were recently treated for CCSVI by having their jugular veins unblocked and normal drainage of blood from the brain restored to normal.

The meeting was organized by Sandra Birrell who herself recently enjoyed relief from many of her MS symptoms by having having the blood flow through her jugular veins restored to normal.

Interesting article showing the pervasive influence of drug companies on MS Societies and those that are supposed to care for MS patients.

I am working at getting my message honed that there is a big difference between a charity for MS patients (like ReformedMS) and and a professional association for MS caregivers and Drug companies who are only pretending to represent patients. The MSS of Canada should change its name to the Canadian Association of MS Caregivers and Pharmaceutical Companies. I doubt that they will be able to maintain their tax exempt status as a trade association.
